The Israeli prison known as “Janot” has transformed—according to official reports and human rights documentation—from a detention facility into a daily theater of violations amounting to war crimes. Palestinian prisoners, both men and women, are being subjected to systematic abuse and constant humiliation.

 Forced Standing for Hours… Blindfolded

Prisoners are forced to stand from 5:00 AM until 4:00 PM, blindfolded, without access to food, water, or rest. Human rights organizations describe this as a direct violation of international humanitarian law, particularly the Geneva Conventions.

 Brutality and Medical Neglect

Repeated violent raids by the Israeli “Yamas” unit involve stun grenades, attack dogs, and excessive restraints. Meanwhile, a severe outbreak of scabies has spread throughout the prison due to lack of treatment—reminiscent more of concentration camps than correctional facilities.

 Inhumane Food Conditions

Food rations are minimal and of extremely poor quality, causing weight loss and health deterioration among prisoners. Hunger is being used as a tool of control and punishment.

 Legal Suppression and Isolation

Lawyers face harsh restrictions in accessing their clients, with visits delayed or denied entirely. Some prisoners are cut off from any communication with their families or legal support.

 The World Watches… in Silence

Despite growing awareness, international silence largely persists. While the United Nations, United Kingdom, and organizations like Amnesty International and B’Tselem have called for urgent investigations, concrete accountability remains slow and insufficient.

 Is Justice Possible?

Yes. According to international legal experts, several paths remain open:

  • Submitting cases to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

  • Utilizing UN human rights mechanisms.

  • Filing lawsuits under universal jurisdiction laws in European and other countries.

Under catastrophic conditions, global attention is slowly turning toward Palestinian detainees in “Janot” and other Israeli prisons. But how long will Palestinian voices cry out in the dark without being heard?
