From Mohsen Arishi
The Embassy of Malaysia in Cairo hosted a media engagement session with Egyptian journalists from Al Ahram, Al-Diplomacy, The Egyptian Gazette, and Arabtelegraph.com, underscoring the growing momentum in relations between Malaysia and Egypt and the important role of the media in fostering closer cooperation between the two nations.
Opening the session, Malaysian Ambassador to Egypt Datuk Mohd Tarid Sufian highlighted the longstanding and robust bilateral relationship shared by Cairo and Kuala Lumpur, noting the mutual ambition to elevate ties to the level of a Strategic Partnership.
Representatives from several Malaysian agencies based in Cairo — including Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation and Department of Islamic Development Malaysia — delivered presentations covering a wide range of cooperation areas. Discussions focused on enhancing direct connectivity between Cairo and Kuala Lumpur, expanding Halal industry cooperation, boosting collaboration in the digital economy, and promoting tourism opportunities between the two countries.
The session also addressed practical issues concerning marriage procedures involving Malaysians and Egyptians, reflecting the increasingly diverse people-to-people links connecting both societies.
In addition, the Embassy used the gathering to spotlight upcoming flagship events in Malaysia’s halal sector, including the Malaysia International Halal Showcase and the Global Halal Summit, both scheduled for September 2026.
The engagement reflected the Embassy’s recognition of the media’s role not only in delivering accurate information to the public, but also in helping build stronger bilateral understanding and deeper cultural and economic ties between Malaysia and Egypt.
