Active Shooter Reported at YouTube Headquarters in California

California’s San Bruno Police Department are currently responding to reports of an active shooter at the headquarters of YouTube in San Bruno. Officials have urged locals to stay out of the area.

Police tweeted Tuesday that they were responding to a scene at 901 Cherry Ave, which is the address to YouTube’s headquarters. Images released online show SWAT teams descending onto the scene as persons from the building exit with their arms raised. A negotiator has reportedly been brought to the scene.

Local media outlets are reporting that the shooter might’ve been a white female, however, this has not been confirmed by officials. It’s still unclear if the shooter is in custody.

Social media users have begun to share images of police on the scene. It is unclear if anyone has been injured.

Employees from the video-sharing company have taken to Twitter to share what they experienced leading up to the shooting incident. Multiple 911 calls were made by several employees, Connie Jackson, the city manager for San Bruno, told KRON4.

​​YouTube’s parent organization Alphabet Inc. released a statement indicating that officials are investigating a possible gunfire incident at the location.

​The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is working alongside the San Bruno Police Department. FBI is standing by, according to reports.
