Live Updates: One Dead, Multiple Injured in Finland Amid Reports of Sword Attack in College

The incident took place in the city of Kuopio, Eastern Finland at a vocational college inside the Herman shopping mall.

At least one person died after violence occurred at Savo Vocational College inside a shopping centre in the Finnish city of Kuopio at 12:50 local time, police reported.

Finnish media reported, citing police reports, that nine people were injured and one person arrested in the incident.

The police earlier reported that three people were injured. They also stated that they were forced to use firearms during the incident.

MTV News cited an eyewitness as saying that a student broke into a class holding a sword and stabbed “as many people as he could.”

The police cordoned off the mall and evacuated the injured. Rescue teams and ambulances are currently working at the scene.
