Honoring President of Cairo International Film Festival at Film Culture Carnival in China*

Chinese Minister Shen Haixiong, President of China Media Group (CMG), honored renowned actor Hussein Fahmy, President of Cairo International Film Festival, during 2026 Yangtze River Delta Film Culture Carnival held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, People’s Republic of China. Organized by China Media Group in collaboration with Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee.
Ceremonies included extending an invitation to renowned actor Hussein Fahmy and prominent Chinese actress Ma Li to be guests of honor at Carnival and 2026 Yangtze River Delta Youth International Film Week, held concurrently, to explore future and development of film industry.
Carnival focuses on linking film industry with tourism and developing film production in Yangtze River Delta region, which is full of historical landmarks. Events included launching new film programs and initiatives to support seventh art, including interactive television program “Let’s Watch a Movie Together on Weekend,” aiming to spread film culture among public and integrate it into daily life.
This participation and honoring activate direct discussions between Cairo International Film Festival and China Media Group to consolidate strategic partnerships with major media and cultural institutions in China. Cooperation aims to enhance cultural exchange and expand international media coverage for events of 47th edition of festival, scheduled from November 11 to 20, 2026, supporting co-production opportunities and opening new markets for Egyptian and Arab cinema in Asian continent.
