For Jennifer Medina, this fear became a reality.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"crtoTextBanner\" dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Jennifer works for Mission Hospital\u2019s emergency room in Mission Viejo, California. As she was going about her day, catering to the business of the ER, a young male was brought in. He was an unconscious\u00a0victim of a hit-and-run accident.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As they had five traumas happening that day alone, Jennifer and her coworker were asked to identify the male who was already a Code Blue (not breathing).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Her coworker came over with the wallet and Jennifer immediately recognized it. When she opened it, she saw her brother Cesar Andres Medina\u2019s face staring back at her.<\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"ltr\"><p>\u201cEverything just collapsed. I just couldn\u2019t hold it together. I just knew I wanted to say my last goodbyes to Andy after they cleaned him up\u2026 I got to go in there and kiss him and tell him how much I love him,\u201d Jennifer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-3259415\/The-day-feared-ER-nurse-discovers-hit-run-victim-doctors-not-save-brother.html\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He was crossing the street while riding his skateboard when a black pick-up truck hit him and drove off. His body flew over 20 feet in the air but the driver did not stop by to help.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Once he got to the hospital, doctors did all they could but he suffered from major trauma to his brain and died shortly afterwards.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The suspected driver, 19-year-old Andrew Christopher Michaels, was found and arrested.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">On her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/8y5jxdbw\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0<\/a>page, Jennifer wrote, \u201cThe day I feared the most was the day I would see my little brother come in as a trauma patient to my work.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019m sure a common fear among nurses and doctors is\u00a0to have a close friend or family member wheeled into the emergency room in critical condition.
