Cairo International Film Festival, headed by renowned actor Hussein Fahmy, extends its heartfelt congratulations and deepest pride to Dr. Khaled El-Anany, former Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, on his historic election as Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
\nThis victory\u2014achieved on October 6, 2025, coinciding with the 52nd anniversary of Egypt\u2019s glorious October Victory\u2014stands as a global recognition of Egypt\u2019s enduring cultural and civilizational influence. Dr. El-Anany becomes the first Egyptian and Arab, and only the second African since UNESCO\u2019s founding, to assume this prestigious position\u2014an achievement that reflects the strength of Egypt\u2019s soft power and its leading role on the international stage.
\nOn this occasion, Hussein Fahmy, President of Cairo International Film Festival, stated:
\n\u201cWith immense joy and pride, I extend my warmest congratulations\u2014on behalf of every Egyptian filmmaker and intellectual\u2014to Dr. Khaled El-Anany, who has honored us all with this remarkable achievement.
