McAleenan, in coordination with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, designated Poland into the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Starting November 11, 2019, citizens and nationals of Poland will be able to apply to travel to the United States for tourism or business purposes for up to 90 days without obtaining a US visa. A strong and vibrant economy is essential to United States national security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.arabtelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Amr-Soltan-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-198607\" width=\"391\" height=\"401\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.arabtelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Amr-Soltan-3.jpg 851w, https:\/\/www.arabtelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Amr-Soltan-3-292x300.jpg 292w, https:\/\/www.arabtelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Amr-Soltan-3-768x790.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 391px) 100vw, 391px\" \/><figcaption><strong><em>By- Amr Soltan<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">According to the US Travel Association, 23 million travelers arrived through the VWP in 2017, whose spending generated $190 billion in economic activity and supported nearly one million jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe inclusion of Poland into the Visa Waiver Program is a testament to the special relationship that exists between our two countries, and the ongoing friendship and close cooperation on our joint security priorities,\u201d said acting Secretary McAleenan. \u201cWe look forward to continuing to work with the Polish government as we deepen our security cooperation as well as make travel easier for our citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Visa Waiver Program is a comprehensive security partnership between the United States and a designated country that meets several requirements related to counterterrorism, law enforcement, immigration enforcement, document security, and border management. The primary goal of the program is to encourage travel while increasing security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Under the Visa Waiver Program, citizens and nationals of Poland will be able to apply online for authorization to travel to the United States through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">These authorizations are valid for two years. Travelers with B1\/B2 visas should continue to use their visa for travel to the United States. While DHS begins accepting applications on November 11, the department reminds first-time ESTA applicants that it may take up to 72 hours for processing. ESTA applications may be found&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/esta.cbp.dhs.gov\/esta\/\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This designation demonstrates the strong partnership and cooperation between the United States and Poland, its trusted partner. The Visa Waiver Program will expand cultural ties and strengthen the economy of both nations by encouraging tourism and business exchanges. Poland will be the 39th member of the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>US Visa Waiver Program<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>The Visa Waiver Program (VWP), administered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in consultation with the State Department, permits citizens of 38 countries [1] to travel to the United States for business or tourism for stays of up to 90 days without a visa.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>In return, those 38 countries must permit U.S. citizens and nationals to travel to their countries for a similar length of time without a visa for business or tourism purposes.&nbsp; Since its inception in 1986, the VWP has evolved into a comprehensive security partnership with many of America\u2019s closest allies.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>The VWP utilizes a risk-based, multi-layered approach to detect and prevent terrorists, serious criminals, and other mala fide actors from traveling to the United States. This approach incorporates regular, national-level risk assessments concerning the impact of each program country\u2019s participation in the VWP on US national security and law enforcement interests.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>It also includes comprehensive vetting of individual VWP travelers prior to their departure for the United States, upon arrival at US ports of entry, and during any subsequent air travel within the United States.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin K.
