{"id":193151,"date":"2022-08-10T17:13:56","date_gmt":"2022-08-10T15:13:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.arabtelegraph.com\/?p=193151"},"modified":"2024-11-28T23:25:26","modified_gmt":"2024-11-28T21:25:26","slug":"abu-dhabis-chimera-buys-majority-of-egypts-beltone-financial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.arabtelegraph.com\/?p=193151","title":{"rendered":"Abu Dhabi&#8217;s Chimera buys majority of Egypt&#8217;s Beltone Financial"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Abu Dhabi investment firm Chimera Investment LLC said it has acquired a controlling stake in Egypt&#8217;s Beltone Financial Holding (BTFH.CA), part of a strategy to expand in the Middle East and North Africa region.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Chimera bought 55.9% of Beltone at 1.485 Egyptian pounds a share, valuing the company at 661.8 million pounds ($34.6 million), according to Reuters calculations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Beltone announced that Dalia Khorshid, Egypt&#8217;s former investment minister, would be its new chief executive officer.<br>Founded in 2006, Beltone is a financial services company that offers brokerage, investment banking, asset management, equity research and non-banking financial services in Egypt and the Middle East and North Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Chimera was set up in 2007 and is part of Abu Dhabi&#8217;s Royal Group, which is owned by Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is the United Arab Emirates&#8217; national security adviser and a half brother of the country&#8217;s president, Mohammed bin Zayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;We will, over the coming period, look to unlock value and implement an all-encompassing transformation plan, aimed at restoring growth and profitability to Beltone,&#8221; Chimera Chairman Syed Basar Shueb said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Beltone has posted net losses each year since 2018.
