A flight attendant also received a minor injury during\u00a0the accident.<\/p>\n<p>The domestic flight, which was traveling from\u00a0Chongqing to\u00a0Lhasa, landed at\u00a0the Chengdu Shuangliu airport roughly 20 minutes after\u00a0the window broke.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to\u00a0Red Star News, pilot Liu Chuanjian revealed that seconds after\u00a0the malfunction, his fellow pilot started to\u00a0get sucked out\u00a0of the window, along\u00a0with parts of\u00a0the plane&#8217;s control unit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"marker-quote1\">&#8220;The windshield cracked suddenly and gave a huge bang. I looked aside and found half of\u00a0the co-pilot&#8217;s body was already outside\u00a0the window. Fortunately his seat belt was fastened,&#8221; the South China Morning Post reported Liu saying. &#8220;The sudden loss of\u00a0pressure and low temperature made me very uncomfortable and it was very difficult to\u00a0make a single move when the aircraft was flying at\u00a0900 kilometres an hour and at\u00a0such a high altitude.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"b-inject m-inject-min\">\n<p>The Post reported that the plane descended from\u00a032,000 feet to\u00a024,000 feet before\u00a0Liu was able to\u00a0regain his composure and maneuver the plane.<\/p>\n<p>With the plane&#8217;s autopilot system down, Liu added that he had no other choice than\u00a0to fly the craft manually and that he felt confident in\u00a0doing so because he has &#8220;flown this route 100 times and knows everything very well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A passenger, Zhao Shihai, told the China Youth Daily that he realized what was going on\u00a0when he was woken up\u00a0by strong turbulence, which later subsided after\u00a0the flight crew managed to\u00a0close the cockpit door that had been pushed open.<\/p>\n<p class=\"marker-quote1\">&#8220;I was thrown up\u00a0in the air and fell for\u00a0several times,&#8221; Zhao told the outlet. &#8220;The oxygen masks on\u00a0the plane all dropped out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sichuan Airlines stated on\u00a0their Weibo account that the flight had experienced a &#8220;mechanical failure&#8221; and that passengers were later put on\u00a0another flight to\u00a0Lhasa. The airline did not offer any further details on\u00a0the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary findings indicate pilots received a failure message on\u00a0the plane&#8217;s control unit regarding the windshield moments before\u00a0disaster struck, the Aviation Herald reported.
