\u00a0The Belgian police are verifying information about armed men at the Brussels-South railway station, also known as Gare du Midi, a representative of the district\u2019s police told Sputnik on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“At the moment, we are checking reports of\u00a0eyewitnesses that there could be one or two armed persons at\u00a0the station. Someone allegedly heard the sound similar to\u00a0a shot, but\u00a0the evacuation was not carried out, we are clarifying the situation,” the police spokesperson said, adding that there were no casualties as\u00a0a result of\u00a0the incident.<\/p>\n

\u200bEarlier in\u00a0the day, local media reported that a “loud bang” caused a brief panic and people started to\u00a0flee the station. According to\u00a0the reports, no one has been injured.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
